EVENT OVERVIEW

Anchor 1

The Australian multi-unit residential construction market is experiencing significant momentum, driven by a chronic national housing shortage, strong population growth, and ambitious government targets under the National Housing Accord to deliver 1.2 million new homes by 2029. Rising demand for medium and high-density housing, coupled with institutional investor appetite and government support, has positioned multi-unit construction as one of the most active segments in Australia’s property sector. Despite challenges such as high construction costs, labour shortages, and planning complexities, the sector continues to attract substantial capital and development activity nationwide.

Sydney and Melbourne remain the two largest and most dynamic multi-unit construction markets in Australia. Both cities are characterised by strong demographic tailwinds, high land values, and aggressive planning reforms aimed at increasing housing supply through upzoning and transit-oriented development. These markets continue to draw the bulk of institutional capital, with Sydney and Melbourne together accounting for approximately $42 billion in committed and planned multi-unit residential projects as of 2026.

Brisbane is rapidly emerging as one of Australia’s most attractive multi-unit construction markets. Supported by the 2032 Olympic Games infrastructure push, strong interstate migration, and relatively more achievable development economics compared to Sydney and Melbourne, the city is witnessing a surge in project activity. Investor confidence is rising rapidly, with over $8.5 billion currently in the multi-unit residential construction pipeline across Greater Brisbane.

The Multi-Unit Residentials conference by Trueventus brings together Australia’s leading developers, investors, contractors, architects, and policymakers in Brisbane to explore the latest strategies, technologies, and delivery models shaping the future of multi-unit residentials development and construction.
